“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.”
Psalm 34:18 ESV
I don’t just workout for outer strength and ability, but for inner strength and clarity.
There’s something to be said for the mental focus and therapeutic release exercise brings for the anxious, the depressed, the crushed in spirit, the heartbroken parts of our lives we so often keep hidden as we attempt to just keep on living.
There have been seasons of life that as I’m swinging the dumbbells on the outside, I’m crying out to God on the inside. I’m mentally and emotionally working through the uncontrollable, unpredictable , unwelcome distresses in my life with purposeful movement, intentional focus, and disciplined release. I’m willing myself to “cast my cares onto the Lord” because I know I’m not built to carry it all on my own.
Mama, if you’re also swinging dumbbells or pounding pavement for that inner work and not just the outer, I’m praying with you this morning to know He sees your broken heart, and He is near you, ready to save. You are not alone in your fight. Keep swinging. Keep showing up. Keep moving forward.
